CHARACTER APPLICATION
Feb. 5th, 2012 12:53 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
If you want to apply for a character at Digital Dive, simply take one of the forms below and reply to this post.
Applications will now be judged on a rotation cycle. Applications can be submitted throughout the entire month, but they will only be judged, rejected, or sent back for revision in the last two weeks of any calendar month.
New to Digital Dive, you can now use the Dive Tests Network to act in place of the RP Sample or D-Comm Network Post. You can only use it for one, however! Further details for how this works can be found here.
Before you apply, there are a few points we'd like to make known:
If you wish to app a character from a movie, video game, or other work released in individual (read, not regular), we'd like to ask that you wait for 30 days out of consideration for spoilers.
Most applications are judged on a two strikes your out policy, with applicants being given one chance to correct aspects of an app that the moderators feel are lacking or in error. However, if the majority of the application has numerous faults, the moderators reserve the right to reject an app wholesale. In the case of a rejected application, you must wait a full month before applying or reserving for them again, and in that time, the character you have applied for is still considered up for grabs.
Because all situations and canons are different, the moderators reserve the rights to question an application's merit and communicate with the applicant about the matter. This can range from how long the canon has been running, the point in which the character is being applied for, concerns of potential canon-mates, and whatever other necessary situations may arise.
We've provided explanations for each section, so please read over them before you apply!
Name and personal journal: List the name you'd like to be called along with your personal journal, if you have one.
Contact: List the methods by which you can be contacted here, including email, instant messagers, or anything else. We must have some means of getting hold of you outside Dreamwidth itself.
Player's Age: Please list your personal age. We ask presently that players be over the age of 16.
Character/Canon: List the character's name and the canon they originate from. If your character is an original creation, regardless of origin, please indicate this.
Character Type: Is your character a main character, a secondary character, a background character, or an OC?
Tamer Class: Please specify whether you are applying for a Soul Tamer, Matrix Tamer, Spirit Tamer, Xros Tamer, or a Digimon on its own. If you are uncertain of which to select, refer to the respective write-ups on Tamer classes.
Furthermore, if you are applying for a Spirit OR Xros Tamer, we would like you to explain why you believe it would fit your character.
Understand that we can and will, if necessary, deny or ask you change your Tamer Class if it is deemed ill-fitting of the character. This does not count as a strike towards rejection, however, except under circumstances when we determine the Class to be ill-fitting and the applicant doesn't comply.
If you don't understand the Class System well and are uncertain of what to pick, you can either ask a moderator, or simply choose "Soul Tamer" as the default option as it is the easiest to manage. You can always change you Class later!
Character appearance: Post an image of your character's appearance, or post a description if you don't have one.
Character age: List your character's age.
Digimon partner(s)/Spirit/Xros Army: If you are applying for a Soul or Matrix Tamer, please list the digimon you have selected for your partner. This digimon must be at the Child level or lower. You need not determine the rest of its evolution line at this time, and even if you do, you may change it at any time provided you haven't already depicted it as evolving into something else. If your Digimon is a fan creation, please indicate this.
If you are applying for a Spirit Tamer, simply state whether you have chosen the Spirit of Fire, Light, Wind, Ice, Thunder, Steel, Water, Wood, Earth, Darkness, or Corrupted Darkness.
If you are applying for a Xros Tamer, due to the fact that these require more information, we require you to list your army's main partner, their super evolution, and the remaining members of their army.
If you are applying for a character who is a Digimon, feel free to leave this blank. However, if said Digimon is an original creation, please indicate this. We are also not accepting applications for Digimon characters who are the Ultimate/Mega level that do not originate from an existing canon - simply put, you would be allowed to apply for BlackWarGreymon from the Digimon Adventure 02 anime, but not an original character who is a BlackWarGreymon.
In general, if you have trouble coming up with a Digimon Partner, you can feel free to ask the community over AIM, the moderators, or refer to sites such as the Digital Monster Almanac or Wikimon.
Xros Ups: If you are applying for a Xros Tamer, we need to know the Xros Ups your Tamer will be able to form from your Primary Partner, what they're called, and what they can do, including attacks and any other special abilities. Note, that this section is also important for determining you have a grasp of the Digi-Xros concept, so this is where you will show that knowledge. This section is not on the app for non-Xros Tamers.
Character history: Describe your character's history. If you're going to go into great, extensive detail, you won't be denied, but note that we do not need a novel written. Quality comes before quantity, and we simply want to know you understand and grasp the canon you are apping from, as well as give us context so we can better understand the following sections. So, please write it out in a concise, but informative manner.
Note however, that for original characters we will hold this section up to much higher standards. An original character can be rejected based on factors ranging from background quality or just seeming to be a poorly conceived character.
Character personality: Describe your character's personality in an informative, but concise, manner. This is one of the most important aspects of the application, to really show you understand the character and where they might be coming from. The raised standards for original characters also applies here.
Digimon partner personality: Describe your Digimon's personality in an informative, but concise manner. Your Digimon are characters too, and just as important as their Tamer. If you are applying for a Xros Tamer or a Tamer with multiple partners, you must list personality for ALL Digimon. Each one will be held up to the same standards as a single partner. If you are apping a Spirit Tamer, you can skip or remove this section.
Character abilities: Describe your character's abilities. Keep in mind that all offensive powers must be scaled down to the Adult level. Most powers that rely on external sources outside the Digital World generally won't function, though there can be the occasional exception depending on how it's described. Keep in mind this is also an important part of determining whether or not the Tamer Class you have selected for your character is right for them.
Please focus on the character's primary, distinct abilities. If the character has a multitude of attacks or spells, free to link to a wiki or other listing that covers said arsenal of powers, but this cannot substitute for the entire ability write-up.
If your character's abilities exceed that which is deemed fair towards the role play in general, you may be asked to tone them down.
On another note, Dive does consider allowing characters to arrive with piloted mecha. This is subject to certain scrutiny, of course, and is judged in comparison to the character's personal abilities outside of the suit and how much their character revolves around the use of said machine.
Sample RP: Please give us a third person role-play sample, depicting your character and their partner(s) interacting. Both sample sections are very important to show your character's voice, and your ability to write your character from a prose perspective, as this will make up a large potential chunk of your role playing in the Logs community.
Sample D-Comm Network Post: Please give us a role play sample from the perspective of posting from the D-Comm Network. It is, effectively, like posting in an online journal or social networking site. Again, we are trying to get a feel for your character's voice.
This is the app for Soul, Spirit, and Matrix Tamers, as well as standalone digimon characters.
This is the app for Xros Tamers:
Banned Digimon partners:
Keep in mind that some digimon are not allowed as digimon partners or components in an evolution line. These digimon are as follows:
Lucemon (all forms)
Arkadimon (all forms)
Apocalymon
Death-X-mon
Ogudamon
Omegamon
Susanoomon
Chaosmon
UltimateChaosmon
Millenniummon
Moon=Millenniumon
ZeedMillenniumon
Gizmon (all forms)
DarknessBagramon
Quartzmon
In addition, with a few notable exceptions, most "Mode Changes" are not acceptable at this time, and you must select the basic version of those Ultimates. The exceptions are Imperialdramon Dragon Mode and Fighter Mode, both of which can be selected as indvidual Digimon, and Duftmon Leopard Mode, which is a component of Duftmon's abilities.

Player's Age: 29
Character/Series: Kouji Kabuto, Mazinkaiser OVAs
Character Type: Main Character
Tamer Class: Soul
Character appearance:
Character age: 17
Digimon partner(s)/Spirit/Evolution Line: Hagurumon -> Mazinmon -> Kaisermon -> Shin Kaisermon
Character history: Most of Kouji Kabuto's history prior to the start of the Mazinkaiser OVAs is practically unknown, but, it could be assumed, going by the manga and the original TV series as well, as this:
Years ago, a former assistant to Professor Juzo Kabuto, Dr. Hell, discovered a collection of mechanical monsters known as the Mikeros. Fearful of what he could do with them, Juzo began developing a machine to combat these monsters. Utilizing a powerful energy source known as Photonic Energy and creating a special metal called Chogokin-Z (Super Alloy-Z), Juzo created the machine known as Mazinger-Z. In time, he would develop three other robots, one alongside his son, Kento: the Great Mazinger "prototype", the true Great Mazinger and Mazinkaiser. Mazinger-Z was given to Juzo's grandson, Kouji, just before Dr. Hell killed his former employer and the Great Mazinger "prototype" was given to Tetsuya Tsurugi, Kouji's adoptive brother.
In time, the two Mazinger pilots were joined by others: Sayaka Yumi, daughter of Professor Yumi, the owner of the Photon Power Labs; Jun Houno, an ally of Tetsuya's; and Boss and his gang, Muche and Nuke, who were Kouji's former rivals. Together, the Mazinger Team faced off against various mechanical monsters of Dr. Hell's... until one battle changed that.
An attack on Tokyo started out normal, with the Mazinger team overwhelming the Mechanical Monsters, until the creatures began getting leeway and eventually taking down the team. In their rampage, they tore the Hover Pilder from Mazinger-Z and tossed it, Kouji still inside, away. Frantically piloting it to safety, Kouji crash landed in a cave hidden inside a waterfall. Inside, Kouji discovered a secret area where Mazinkaiser was kept hidden. Taking the controls of the Kaiser Pilder, Kouji found himself unable to control the machine as it took over, rampaging across the Photon Power Plant, nearly destroying Mazinger-Z in its "Ashura Mazinger" form, as well as Great Mazinger. When Kouji finally came to, he was forced to stay on the sidelines, fearing he couldn't control Mazinkaiser after Baron Ashura struck again. When Sayaka was captured, Kouji came to the rescue, despite his inability to pilot the newest Mazinger. Despite that, Kouji fought back and rescued his teammates and was forced to fight alone when Tetsuya was badly injured.
Soon Baron Ashura and Dr. Hell upped the ante in their attacks, sending android assassins to kill Kouji (which the young pilot defeating the assassins using Kaiser Pilder) and attacking the team during an excursion at the beach (which Kouji got them out... after accidentally doing Sayaka's bikini top and flashing her breasts at every one of Baron Ashura's soldiers.). During an unapproved mission, Baron Ashura attempted to destroy the Photon Power Plant by sneaking in disguised as Professor Yumi. The Mazinger Team were able to stop Ashura and save the plant in the nick of time, but Dr. Hell was furious at this loss.
Dr. Hell nearly succeeded in defeating the team through a series of plans. With Sayaka's machine, Venus Ace infected with a mysterious virus and the team captured, they were rescued by Boss and his gang, using their machine, the Boss Borot, to fight off the monsters until Kouji could get to Mazinkaiser. Even though he had done so, he was defeated by one of Dr. Hell's strongest monsters, the Mazinger tossed into the reactivated lava pit of Mt. Fuji. Rescued by the returned Tetsuya in the true Great Mazinger and by Mazinkaiser's wings, Kaiser Scrander, Kouji was freed and quickly made his way to Dr. Hell's base, where he battled and killed Baron Ashura in the King Hell Gordon. Confronting Dr. Hell, the scientist attempted to escape, only to have his rocket go up in flames, Kouji and Mazinkaiser escaping.
Soon after, as Kouji and Sayaka was studying abroad, the Mikene Empire struck, ravaging the world and forcing the two to return to Japan to get Mazinkaiser. In the process, Great Mazinger, another Venus Ace, Boss Borot and the Mass Produced Mazingers battled the generals in their attempt to give Kouji time to get to the Mazinger, though, in the process, three assistants from the Photon Power Plant, Lori, Roll and Professor Morimori, were killed in the process. Again with the aid of Boss and his gang, Kouji got to Kaiser Pilder (which was hidden away INSIDE Boss Borot), then to Mazinkaiser (which was in space being refined.) With Mazinkaiser strengthened, Kouji battled the last of the Mikene Generals, finally facing down the leader, Ankouku Daishogun, and defeating him.
With the empire defeated, the Mazinger team went to work rebuilding... though for Kouji and Mazinkaiser, their work would not be done...
...at least, not in their world, but the Digital World...
Upon arriving in the Digital World, though, Kouji found himself meeting up with a few like-minded hot-blooded individuals - the Dai-Gurren Knights. Becoming the pilot of the Halberd, Kouji and his Digimon partner joined the heroes in their wanderings, recovering the tag within Meria and, on his own, dealing with the intergalactic conquorer Lord Zedd. However, confronting the scientist Dr. Eggman, Kouji's partner was killed and reformated, becoming much stronger than before. Through this, Kouji aided in the final fight for Tetha, aiding in saving the airborne city before he disappeared from the world once more.
Character personality: Kouji is the basis of what every other Super Robot pilot is based off of. Hot-blooded to a point, he refuses to let any injustice slip past him and will barge into anything head first. He's chivalrous to a point, willing to stand up to anybody and everybody, no matter the danger, weither its still being unable to control Mazinkaiser or if his life is in peril.
Despite this, he's your typical seventeen year old boy. He'll run his mouth off or do something without thinking through with what he's done. Most of those incidents have been around Sayaka and usually involve other girls, much to her chagrin. He should know better - when he pissed off Sayaka when he applied suntan lotion onto one of the Photon Power Plant's assistants during a beach trip, she splashed him with soda, then had Venus Ace take Mazinkaiser and turn it UPSIDE DOWN in the ocean! He's also been known to a bit sexist, especially when it comes to girls and fighting on the battlefield.
Beyond that, however, he's actually bright when he can think things through. That includes being able to fight off a set of robot assassins long enough to be saved by the Kaiser Pilder and using an exercise tool as a makeshit steering wheel. He's also been shown to be a crack shot at that, cleaving one of the affore mentioned robot assassins with a laser shot from the Kaiser Pilder, to shooting down a thrown weapon by Dr. Hell to even killing a monster with a headshot.
Digimon partner personality: Hagurumon's still the hot-blooded individual he was since joining up with Kouji. Hot-headed and ready to jump into anything, he rarely lets anything get in his way. Despite spending a year without his stronger forms, he hasn't and won't back down from anything.
However, due to this, he does have a bit of a chip on his shoulder - being forced to sit back and watch Chaosmon tear apart the world without his partner wasn't the biggest thrill in the universe and he isn't thrilled that his partner wasn't around for it. However, things are changing and he knows it. All he needs to do now is jump into action once more.
Character abilities: Kouji has no real powers except for being an expert pilot and a crack shot.
Mecha: Mazinkaiser is the final machine of the Mazinger line. Armored in the powerful Chogokin Nu-Z Alpha, Mazinkaiser is nigh-unstoppable against weaker opponents. Controlled by the Kaiser Pilder cockpit, the unit is armed with a plethora of powerful attacks -
Rust Tornado - a powerful gout of wind from the machine's face grills.
Fire Blaster - a powerful energy blast from the unit's chest-mounted heat sinks
Turbo Smasher Punch - Rocket Punches enhanced by the turbine-like forearms
Gigant Missile - stomach-mounted missiles
Koushouryoku Beam - eye beams of Photonic Energy
Shoulder Slicers - Shoulder-mounted swords
Kaiser Blade Full Power - A powerful broad sword summoned from the chest plate.
Mazinkaiser can fly through the help of the Kaiser Scrander jet pack.
Sample RP: "DOUBLE BURNING FIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRE!"
It was a sight to behold - twin machines of amazing power facing down a powerful opponent and seemingly vaporizing them with amazing energy. However, their foe still stood.
"Kaisermons... you've sealed your fate the second you set foot upon this town!" the Digimon growled, standing up.
"I told you, this isn't a Kaisermon - this is the real deal. The actual Mazinkaiser!" shouted the pilot of the winged machine, one Kouji Kabuto. "And I don't care you if start snapping more Digimon to you, I'm still going to squash you!"
"WE'RE going to squash them, right, partner?" The other machine, the true Kaisermon, said.
"Heh, right. Not used to having a partner after so long...!" Kouji said, watching as the Digimon began to charge.
"We need to give the Digimon here time to escape!" Kaisermon said.
"Let's give it to them!" Kouji shouted.
"KAISERMON! MAZINKAISER! DIIIIIIIIIIIIIE!" the Digimon roared.
"CROSS MAZINGER BLADE!" At that, both machine and Digimon reached back, unsheathing sets of swords and charging at the mad Digimon...
Sample D-Comm Network Post: Oi! Simon! Meta Knight! Any of you guys! Are you guys still around? What the heck's going on? I drop in in the Dark Area and now I got people trying to kill me and my partner! Though, I can't complain too much - looks like that stupid god here decided to be nice and give me back my machine!
So, where are you guys? I'll gladly drop in and take back steering if you all don't mind!
Hey! Don't think I haven't forgotten you abandoned me, Kabuto!
H-Hey, what could I do? This stupid world works weird!
No excuse, Kabuto!
Oy...

Prepare for Trouble

Player's Age: 24
Character/Series: Digital Dive OC
Character Type: Digimon
Tamer Class: Digimon
Character appearance:
Character age: Young Adult
Digimon partner(s)/Spirit/Evolution Line: Palmon/Ponchomon/Lilimon/Rosemon
Character history:
Palmon had always held a fascination with humans ever since they started appearing in the digital world. Such curious creatures! Then came the day that she finally got a tamer of her own. And he was a handsome one! Sparkling eyes, beautiful shiny hair. And such passion and determination. A thirst for life and adventure. She became enamored almost immediately.
Falling in with a proudly proclaimed criminal Palmon became a proud member of Team Rocket and helped to pull off a infamous heist at a local primary village. Though they caused alot of chaos they only got away with a handful of stolen eggs which they promptly sold to the Lord of Terror who was looking to raise a small squad of devoted and dangerous Digimon to aid her in her schemes.
Next up Palmon and her partner joined Lord Bowser at his castle. They were not the most popular members of Bowser's team despite Palmon's best efforts. But over time they found their place as Bowser's eager yesmen and toadies.
They partook in a successful attack on Tetha by the combined forces of Evil including LOT who had James build her an airship. Palmon did her best to take good care of James during this battle keeping him below deck when things got too hectic.
Jobs came and went for the duo. James taught Palmon the skills all good Team Rocket Operatives needed to know like disguises, giant robot building, hot air balloon control, and how to make a crash landing without getting too badly hurt.
Then came a sad time in Palmon's life. Her free will and mind were overtaken by a powerful creature called Daemon who turned Palmon into a perpetually cheerful and peaceful but utterly devoted cultist helping to further the goals of Daemon that would eventually destroy the world. Palmon was only freed from this infection when she was defeated by a monster known as ADR-01 and reverted all the way back to an egg.
Even when she hatched however all was not completely well. There was a part of her missing. She couldn't seem to remember her tamer and took no joy in activities she'd previously found fun. It was only when they were cornered in an alleyway by a dangerous lunatic intent on torturing them that Palmon's memory was jogged and she was back truly and for good.
Though they were never as active as the lowest level thugs nor as well regarded as the higher tier criminal masterminds, James and Palmon had a happy and healthy criminal career, even working alongside Bowser's crooked police force, and joining the battle at Armageddon. It was there that Palmon first evolved to Rosemon...before being blasted over the horizon with James.
Palmon loved James, with all her Digicore. And when Yggdrasil decided it was time for her beloved leader to be sent home she struggled to not become depressed. She wandered away from Bowser's fortress and spent weeks drinking and crying and getting into fights trying to make herself forget long enough that her heart would stop aching. But so far nothing has been able to dull the feelings of loss she holds for her Tamer.

Date: 2012-06-09 09:39 pm (UTC)She has a very romantic heart and tends to make all things romanticized, such as her relationship with her former Tamer, and their career as criminals. She thinks deep down love is one of the most important things in the world and will go out of her way to defend it...no matter how twisted her views on love might seem.
Finally, for a criminal? She has a very soft heart. However losing her partner has given her a newfound dedication to the craft and will find her pushing herself beyond her emotional comfort zone depending on the situation. This will be a time of growth in her life for better or for worse.
Because of her cheerful nature she can sometimes be naive or gullible, and even more troubling not consider the consequences of things that she considers criminal fun.
Digimon partner personality: N/A
Character abilities:
Poison Ivy: Entangles the opponent in ivy laced with a powerful toxin, completely paralyzing them.
Plant Shock: Showers the opponent in a wave of leaves.
Root Breaker: Drains energy from foe.
Nioi Kougeki (におい攻撃? lit. "Stench Attack"): Releases a foul stench.
Stinking Attack (くさいニオイ Kusai Nioi?, lit. "Stinking Stench")

Sample RP: It was a heist James would have cried over.
Silently Palmon clung to her perch watching the street below with hawklike focus. She could hear the truck coming through it wasn't in sight yet.
In a day and age where almost anything could be digitized and sent over the network there was still a surprising call for traditional shipping methods. Some thought that it was because change was scary even to Digimon who by their very nature changed often.
Still that made things easier for Palmon. So easy that she hadn't even needed to hire any others to help her with this heist.
Headlights! Coming around the corner at a casual speed. After all what did they have to worry about?
Well, A mildly unstable Palmon swinging from a lamp post using her vines to crash through the driver's side window.
"Green means get lost!" She commanded undoing his seat belt and lashing him across his rear. The Agumon driver cried out in pain and panic overtook him causing him to jump out his own door and roll when he hit pavement.
Palmon worried for a minute he was hurt but didn't have time for more then that. The truck wheel was left spinning on it's own and she had to throw herself at the wheel to turn it back the other way. She was a very lightweight creature so this was taking alot of effort. Tires squealed and the frame rattled in protest but with a little luck she managed to right the truck once more.
The truck strightened itself out and took a very careful turn right back in the direction she had entered Neon City from.
The great Soda Truck heist was a success. All the bottlecaps would be hers!
Sample D-Comm Network Post:
Hello everyone and nice to meet you!
Some of you may know me as Palmon of Team Rocket. Sadly our glorious leader James was sent home, but I will continue on in proud tradition to loot and plunder and cause chaos wherever I go!
I hope we'll all enjoy working together in the future no matter what side you're on.
In closing if anyone has any bottlecaps they don't want, I like to collect them.
Have a nice day!
Yours,
Palmon of Team Rocket.
