There are the primary rules for role-playing at Digital Dive.

1. This is a digimon role-play, so don't forget that you are playing a digimon as well. Your digimon partner is just as much a character as the individual you applied for, so don't ignore them while playing here. This stipulation of course does not apply to Spirit Tamers, but for all other Tamer classes, making your digimon a well rounded character is essential.

2. Practice good netiquette. Don't deliberately try to cause problems, make all OOC posts clear and well mannered, and remember that respect applies to all OOC interaction regarding the role-play, be it in the Dive chat-room or in any of the affiliated communities. If you have a problem with another member, bring it up to the moderators, and don't resort to flaming.

3. No back-seat moderating. Helping people with a problem is one thing, but it's another to take the role of a moderator upon yourself and act like you have authority. If you suspect someone is breaking the rules, contact a moderator as soon as possible.

4. Good spelling and grammar are necessary. We won't harp on you for small errors, but if you make repeated and excessive mistakes, we will be contacting you about it.

5. Be in-character. Once your application is approved, you do not have a free pass to act as you please. If it becomes apparent that you are playing a character in a highly out of character manner, you will be communicated by a moderator. That said, we understand that characters can and will change with development, so we will not enforce this in the case of what appears to be natural progression.

6. Do not god-mode. God-moding includes vastly overpowering a character without permission, ignoring the concept of character limitations, the creation of new powers without approval or justification, detailing other characters' actions without their permission, calling hits in a fight or defining the actions and responses of a character you do not control without permission, manipulating events in unjustified and excessive manner to avoid consequences, having your character know things they should not know, never taking damage in fights to the point of ridiculousness, and taking said damage but ignoring it. These are only SOME of the examples of what can apply to this, but it will not be tolerated.

7. Get permission if your character is going to act as if they know another character's canon. Even if one's own canon provides justification for this, you still need to ask a respective character's mun for permission if they are going to act on this. It can be highly uncomfortable and sometimes limiting for a character to act when someone they've never heard of acts as if they were fictional.

8. You must have permission from a player before attacking their character(s) with a Digimon that is a higher level than what said character has met qualifications for. Being forced into a losing battle that they didn't ask for is something no player really wants. Please be courteous to your fellow players, and remember you wouldn't want the same thing to happen to you.

9. In addition to other abilities changed under scrutiny during the application process, your character's natural powers must be portrayed as being scaled no stronger than an Adult (Champion-level) digimon. Please note that Soul Tamers do have the ability to exceed this limit using Digi-Soul. For more information, please see that Tamer Class's respective write-up.

10. Recurring NPCs are allowed, but they should not be overused to the point that they seem as though they exist for the purpose of beefing up your individual character's standing. Again, if you have any questions about this, ask the moderators. Also, please note that some NPCS are controlled by the mods for plot purposes, and do not exist for this reason, and that if you create an NPC, that character is now open to be used by anyone in the community. If you would like to have particular ownership of an NPC, apply for them and graduate them to full playable character status.

11. Elements that are not safe for work must be played out privately in character journals, and not on the main communities. This applies to role-play of a sexual nature, excessive, highly-detailed and gratuitous violence, and graphic character death. If you are uncertain about just what you can get away with in battle, please ask a moderator.

12. Characters that are under the age of fourteen cannot be involved in material that is not safe for work. That includes everything mentioned in the previous rule. That is to say, they can still be hurt or put into danger, but anything excessively and explicitly violent is not permitted.

Furthermore, if you wish to have a plot where a child under the age of eleven comes under threat of kidnapping, is specifically targeted by a villain, or exposed to something that would be traumatic, we'd like to ask that you run your plans by a moderator to ensure that this rule is being followed, that respect is paid to the subject matter, that there is a proper sense of consequences for the parties involved, and that said characters are not being used merely as props for cheap angst or drama.

In short, we are asking for a short vetting process. That is all. Note that this rule does not cover general fights or conflicts that do not involve the above subject matter. If you are unsure about something you might encounter in game, please communicate with your fellow players about their intentions, and/or ask a moderator.

13. If your character dies, your character dies. Yggdrasil does not allow Digimon Tamers to come back as easily as Digimon. If your character dies, your character is dead and gone and will not be coming back.

14. If you adopt a character from someone, you do not need to apply for them. This rule is self-explanatory. You will, however, be watched closely, and will take up an application slot for the month.

15. The subjects of politics and religion are off-limits for discussion in chat. This has been a problem in the past, and it almost always never ends well, so if you wish to discuss it, take it to a separate chat window.

16. Punishment for breaking rules is decided on a case-by-case basis, usually involving a warning, a probationary period with some allowances taken away, or, in the worst case scenario, a ban.

17. There are conditions for applications reserves, app addendum, time skips, and aspects of portraying digimon and evolution, in addition to these rules. Please see the sections on Tamer Classes, applications, and the various write-ups used throughout the community.

Finally, if you have any problems of any kind, please don't hesitate to contact the moderators. We're here to help, in whatever way you need it. :-)
